Modernizing SCE’s Video Infrastructure Through Centralized, Scalable Virtualization
E.K Associates, in partnership with Siemens Industries, delivered a complete modernization of Southern California Edison’s Network Video Recorder (NVR) ecosystem. The engagement focused on designing and deploying a centralized, virtualized infrastructure to replace fragmented, non-standardized deployments across the enterprise.
We engineered a highly repeatable provisioning model using standardized VM images and centralized management tools, enabling SCE to deploy, manage, and support NVR instances with greater consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency. The result was a secure, scalable platform that reduced manual effort, strengthened cyber hygiene, and improved system visibility for SCE’s security and infrastructure teams.

What We Delivered
Virtual Infrastructure Setup & Standardization
We completed an extensive setup phase that included:
· Deployment of VMware ESXi and NetApp controller software across HP DL380 G10 hosts and NetApp 2812 storage
· Configuration of VMware vCenter for centralized VM provisioning and lifecycle management
· Deployment of vROPS for infrastructure performance monitoring and health checks
· Implementation of NetApp Santricity for SAN management and storage optimization
Standard Image Engineering & Provisioning Framework
Our team developed:
· A standard Windows Server 2016 VM image
· A standard Windows 10 workstation VM image
· Repeatable deployment procedures for ESXi hosts, VM templates, and NetApp configuration
· Provisioning of up to 10 baseline Windows Server VMs for hosting infrastructure tools
Operational Transition & Knowledge Transfer
To ensure long-term sustainability, we delivered:
· Complete runbook documentation covering VM provisioning, health checks, patching workflows, and storage operations
· Hands-on knowledge transfer sessions for SCE’s operations personnel
· Final validation and stabilization support
Security, Patching & Access Control Integration
We strengthened SCE’s cyber posture by implementing:
· Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) for automated OS patching
· Active Directory Domain Services for centralized identity and security policy management
· McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO) for enterprise-wide antivirus and endpoint security governance
